Project Lockbox

Lockbox was an interesting project for me as it was the first project that I decided to use 100% off-the-shelf components in the final design. This is unlike my other projects that I would prototype with off-the-shelf components with the intention to design and print my own hardware at the end.

With this being said, Lockbox was deprecated when I invested in a good, self-hosted, password and secrets manager.

Lockbox was a hardware authentication token / password / secrets manager. The device comprised of a small 1.8" IPS display connected to a FIREPRO Arduino Development Board.

On boot the device would request a 6 digit code to unlock the vault, once provided, the device would list a set of sites with the associated password / passphrase.

Please understand, I know this isn't secure, this is why it never left my office and was only used for low priority applications. These reasons are part of the reason for me upgrading to a more simple, convenient and MUCH more secure solution.

This project, being made from off-the-shelf components, doesn't have a wiring diagram and I will not be releasing the firmware I developed for the device because I would still like to get a job in the cyber space in the future 😂

I may look to do something like this in the future when I have more experience working with biometrics, however at the moment this project has well and truly been shelved, sorry!
